NYSALJA MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
Active Membership is open to lawyers and non-lawyers employed or previously employed by governmental agencies of or in the State of New York, who conduct or previously conducted administrative hearings, write formal decisions based on administrative hearings, supervise or review such hearings or decisions. Active members shall also be active or associate members of NAALJ, as determined by NAALJ, by virtue of their membership in the NYSALJA. (See NYSALJA Constitution & Bylaws for Associate and Honorary Membership) Membership in the NYSALJA is currently $45.00 annually [July 1 through June 30],which includes membership in NAALJ. The NYSALJA Board meets at least four times per year, alternating meetings between Albany (Troy) and New York City. Members are welcome to attend Board meetings – dates times and locations of meetings will be posted to this Web site. The Association holds an Annual Meeting, usually in September or October, which attempts to coincide with or occur before the Annual National Association Meeting. New Officers and Board Members are elected at this Annual meeting. In the past few years, the Association has also attempted to hold a social meeting (in Albany and in New York City) to provide members and guests an opportunity to exchange information, network, renew social contacts, and share problems and solutions. The NYSALJA was the principal association responsible for the Albany 2000 four (4) day Meeting and Conference entitled "Administrative Law in The New Millennium: Challenges and Opportunities." This Conference provided attendees with up to 18 CLE credits and was attended by more than 300 Hearing Officers, ALJs, and other Administrative Adjudicators from around the United States (and 3 Canadian guests). The NYSALJA will be sponsoring or co-sponsoring future CLE programs. Watch for details on this WEB SITE. Click Here for an application to become a member of the NYSALJA. |
